George is licensed as both a funeral director and crematory operator. Originally from Athens, Tennessee, George graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville where he earned a degree in Mortuary Science. He and his wife, Courtney, live in Jefferson with their son Clay and their daughter Lennox.
George is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He is a member of the Frederick County Fish and Game Club, the Jefferson Ruritan Club and Frederick Memorial Hospital’s Order of the Good Samaritan. He attends Church of the Redeemer in Frederick. In his spare time, he enjoys attending his son’s sporting events, watching the Baltimore Ravens, and spending time in the great outdoors, including waterfowl and deer hunting.
Courtney is a licensed funeral director, a certified cremation arranger and licensed insurance agent. Originally from Benton, Kentucky, she graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee where she earned a degree in Mortuary Science. She and her husband George D. Stauffer, II live in Jefferson with their son Clay and daughter Lennox.
Courtney is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. She has previously served as chair of Hospice of Frederick County’s Development Council, and as a member of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce’s Generation Connect Board. She also previously co-chair of the Mental Health Association’s Catoctin Affair and was previously chair of Cocktails for a Cause—a fundraiser that benefits many nonprofits in the Frederick area. Courtney is also a member of the Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick, Frederick Memorial Hospital’s Order of the Good Samaritan and attends Church of the Redeemer in Frederick. She enjoys being a football, lacrosse and basketball mom, cheering on the Ravens, watching Kentucky basketball and spending time with family and friends.
Doug has been a funeral director since 1973 and a licensed insurance agent since 1994. After graduating from Walkersville High School, Doug attended Frederick Community College and Tennessee Tech University, where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree. After graduate school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, he earned a degree in Mortuary Science from John A. Gupton College in Nashville.
Doug is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Cremation Association of North America, and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practitioners. A long-time Board Member of Frederick Health Hospice and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Frederick Health. Doug formerly served on the Board of Directors for Frederick Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital’s Order of the Good Samaritan, the Frederick Rotary Club, and he is a member by invitation of the DCMC (Death Care Management Council). His hobbies include sports and listening to music of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Wendi is a lifelong resident of Frederick County, growing up in Walkersville. A graduate of Frederick Community College, with a degree in Business Administration, she served as a Church Administrator prior to joining Stauffer Funeral Home. Wendi and her husband, Dave, have a blended family of five children. They currently live in Middletown, with their two youngest sons and their three dogs. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, going to concerts, playing pickleball and enjoying their condo in Florida.
Troy grew up in Walkersville, attended North Carolina Wesleyan College and thenwent on to play professional baseball in the minor leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals. After a 28-year career with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office he joined Stauffer Funeral Homes to serve the citizens of Frederick County in a different capacity. Troy’s mom, Sharon Barrick retired from Stauffer Funeral Homes after working alongside her brother Doug Stauffer for years—so the family ties run deep.
He now resides in Wolfsville with his wife Jennifer Mullendore and two sons, Brady and Tyler. In his free time Troy enjoys fishing, hunting, and coaching youth baseball. He is also an inductee in the Frederick County YMCA Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame.
A graduate of Frostburg State University, Julie earned her CPA certificate in 1985. After a 17-year career in public accounting with Sarfino & Rhoades in Rockville, she spent several years as Director of Finance with a medical staffing firm. In this position, she led management as they successfully sold the business to a public company, Medical Staffing Network, Inc. Julie lives in Mt. Airy, Maryland with her husband, son, and the family’s King Charles Cavalier spaniel, Jesse. She enjoys exercising, cooking and spending time with family— which includes supporting her son's travel baseball team.
Colleen has been in the funeral profession for more than thirteen years. A Dean’s List student at Indiana University, she received an Associate of Arts in Business. After attending Midland College, she became a licensed funeral director in South Carolina. Colleen is a resident of Thurmont, Maryland and is a member of the Thurmont Lions Club. She has one daughter and two granddaughters.
Ashley E. Brown is a licensed funeral director and certified cremation arranger for Stauffer Funeral Home. She is a 2009 graduate of CCBC with a degree in Mortuary Science and a 2005 graduate of Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, her special education certification and a minor in music. Ashley is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and was also one of fifty funeral directors under the age of 40 selected for Meet the Mentors. She is a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hagerstown, MD where she enjoys singing in the choir. When not working, Ashley enjoys performing on the stage at the Washington County Playhouse, traveling, working out and spending time with her family and friends. She resides in Boonsboro, MD with her husband William Brown and their son Greyson.
A 1989 graduate of Williamsburg High School, Steven started his career in the funeral service in 1996 when he received his Associate degree in Mortuary Science from Catonsville Community College. Over the next five years, he worked in several funeral homes throughout the state of Maryland as a licensed funeral director. In 2001, he moved to Missouri, where he also worked in the funeral profession for nearly eight years. In 2009, Steven took a sabbatical from the funeral service, but found that he missed working with families during their hours of need. In 2018, he decided to return to his true professional passion, bringing more than 14 years of experience to his position on the Stauffer team. He currently resides in Boonsboro, Maryland.
D.J. has been a licensed funeral director since 1980, a licensed insurance agent since 1996 and a certified crematory operator since 2012. A graduate of South Carroll High School, D.J. majored in Mortuary Science at Catonsville Community College. He is a member of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, Greater Mt. Airy Chamber of Commerce, and the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department where he serves as a firefighter and EMT. He is an avid golfer and 10-pin league bowler (with one 300 game to his credit.) D.J. and his wife, Linda, live in Mt. Airy.
Jess is a licensed funeral director. He has been a lifelong resident of Middletown, where he graduated in 2013. Following high school he worked in the funeral service industry for four years before graduating from Catonsville Community college in 2019 with an associate’s degree in Mortuary Science. He is a member of Masonic Lodge, Columbia #58 in Frederick Maryland where he enjoys volunteering for various community activities.
Jeff has been serving families in the Frederick and Washington Metropolitan areas since the mid-eighties. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and his Associate’s Degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Sciences. Bringing comfort to those who have endured a loss has always been his main focus. Jeff and his wife Debby, live in Damascus where they enjoy the outdoors and traveling at every opportunity.
Shawn has been a licensed funeral director since 2006. A resident of Frederick for more than 10 years, Shawn grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Point Park University, and is a 2005 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Shawn enjoys spending time with his daughter, Landyn Paige, singing and playing guitar in various local bands, and running to keep in shape.
Jacqui Kreh, a lifelong resident of Frederick County, is pleased to return to Stauffer Funeral Homes. Jacqui received her Master's Degree in Thanatology (the study of death, dying and bereavement) from Hood College in 2010, and has been a Maryland licensed funeral director/mortician for more than 13 years. She also is currently an adjunct faculty member at Hood College and teaches in the Psychology Department. Jacqui is an active volunteer with the Frederick County 4-H program and the Great Frederick Fair. She is a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church and serves as a county council representative for the Middletown Middle School PTSA. She is looking forward to continue serving families in Frederick County with all of their funeral needs. Jacqui and her husband, Richard, have five children and they live in Middletown. In her spare time, she enjoys local theatre and spending time with her family.
Roger is a licensed funeral director. A graduate of Catonsville Community College, Roger has been a member of the funeral profession for more than 23 years. He lives in Thurmont, Maryland with his wife Tonyia. The couple have one son, Daniel.
Kelly Zimmerman, CFSP, having received her Mortuary Science degree from CCBC in 1993, is a staff funeral director with Stauffer Funeral Home. She was formerly a licensed Mortician in Pennsylvania and continues to hold a Maryland Insurance License.
Kelly is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practitioners, and past President of the Maryland State Funeral Suppliers Association.
Having sung on the choir and served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee, she is a 4th generation member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown and attends Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.
Kelly, her husband, two daughters, and house full of animals have lived in the Boonsboro community since 2001. She enjoys being a dance mom, entertaining family and friends, and relaxing with a good book.
