William "Bill" Elmer Buckeye, 63, of Frederick, Maryland, died suddenly at his home after a period of declining heath on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Born on January 18, 1958, in Euclid, OH, he was the son of the late Elmer Edward Buckeye and Ruth Ann (Dreger) Buckeye.
He was the loving husband of Sheila T. Buckeye, his wife of 20 years.
Bill graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts; from United Theological Seminary with a Masters Degree, from Hope College with a Doctorate of Ministry.
He was a United Methodist Pastor for 37 years, serving parishes Ohio in the East Ohio Conference. He was proud to say that he had officiated for over 150 funerals during his career.
Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife, trips to Disney with the kids and books to add to his collection.
In addition to his wife, Sheila he is survived by his children, Benjamin Buckeye and wife, Sarah, Hilary Buckeye, Jason Winkler and wife, Stacy and Janna Cansler and husband, Tim.; his grandchildren that called him their "Popeye", Griffin Cansler, Addison Cansler, Sadie Cansler, Hadley Cansler, Evelyn Winkler, Lillian Winkler, James Bricker, Bradley Bricker and Parker Buckeye; honorary grandchildren, Amy Phillips and Lane Phillips of Michigan, brother, Jack Buckeye and wife, Janet; sister, Pamela Crawford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Sarah, Travis and Taegan Johnston of Logan, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Margo Dundon.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Murray Funeral Home, 173 S Main Street, Creston, Ohio 44217.
The family will also receive friends from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington, Ohio 44090 where a Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am.
Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to First United Methodist Church.
