Mr. Robert Westerman Fox, 88, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away April 24, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born August 16, 1928 in Goshen, NY, he was the son of the late Roy and Doris Westerman Fox. He was the devoted husband of Betty Wirt Fox.
Bob was a member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church in Frederick, where he served as an Elder and was on both the Finance Committee and Stewardship Committee. He also volunteered in other areas of the church and for Habitat for Humanity. Since moving to Homewood in Frederick, Bob attended church there and volunteered in several areas.
He graduated from the Albany Business College in Albany, NY with a degree in accounting and business management. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying in his early years. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army at Fort Jackson, SC and in Germany.
His business career began with IBM in Kingston, NY. He retired in 1990 as a Financial Analyst, Federal Systems Division, in Gaithersburg after 35 years of service.
Before moving to Homewood, Bob was active in the Worman's Mill Community where he volunteered on the landscaping and architectural committees. He was a dedicated gardener and his roses and other flowers were enjoyed by many.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a daughter, Doreen Fox Kelsey (Tony); a son, Perry Fox (Cheryl); a brother, Art Fox (Betty); five grandchildren; a great-grandson; stepdaughters, Debra Jones and Diana Kropf; four step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; also surviving are brothers-in-law, Robert C. Wirt (Corrine) and Fred A. Wirt (Peggy); and sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Martin (Floyd) and Linda L. Wirt.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Amanda Fox; a son, Robert Allen Fox; his twin sister, Margaret A. Miller; brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard E. Miller, Arthur D. Wirt and Donald E. Wirt; and sister-in-law, Shirley Wirt.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with Pastor Suzanne Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
