Rhonda M. Roebuck, 59, of Frederick, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
She was the beloved wife of Robert Roebuck Jr., to whom she was married for 34 years.
Born on June 10, 1954, in Chatham, Va., she was the daughter of Virginia M. Johnson, of Chatham, Va., and she was raised primarily by her grandfather, the late James Henry Robertson.
Rhonda proudly served her country in the United States Air Force for four years. After separating from the military, she worked numerous jobs, including as an administrative assistant for 15 years at NASA in Greenbelt and most recently as a procurement technician for the United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity at Fort Detrick, until her retirement in 2013. Rhonda graduated from Gretna Senior High School, in Gretna, Va., in 1972 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Government from Virginia Union University, in Richmond, Va., in 1976. Rhonda enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, cooking, reading and listening to gospel and jazz music.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her son, Brandon Roebuck and wife Valerie, of Frederick, and their son, Kirby. She is also survived by her two sisters, Deborah Robertson, of Alexandria, Va., and Janice Robertson of Frederick, her niece Adrienne and husband James Wiles, and their three sons, Darius, Tyler and Zachary, as well as many relatives, uncles, aunts and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Isabelle Robertson, of Chatham, Va., mother-in-law Gwendolyn Roebuck, and father-in-law Robert Roebuck Sr., of Upper Marlboro.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
