Kin Hong Ng, 85, passed away February 21, 2016 at Northampton Manor Health Care Center, Frederick, following a four year battle with lymphoma cancer.
Kin Hong was born on November 5, 1930 in China.
He will be remembered for his commitment to his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving father. He had one primary focus which was for his children and grandchildren to have a good education since he did not have the educational opportunities when he was a young boy.
Kin Hong was a great cook. When he and his family were in Hong Kong, he worked for the British Navy as a cook for many years. He traveled to many countries depending on where the Navy fleet would travel to. Therefore, he was away from home often throughout the years that his children were growing up. After his work as a cook for the Navy, he went to the United States -- a land of opportunities -- to make a better living for his family.
Subsequently, he brought his family to the United States in early 1980s. He tirelessly worked long hours every day to earn money for everyone that he cherished. He worked for a number of Chinese restaurants as a chef or a cook until he retired in the late 1990s. When he retired, his first grandson, Zachary, was an infant. Kin Hong spent a lot of time with Zachary and had opportunities to see an infant grow up to be a fine young man. This meant a lot to him, as he did not have opportunities to see his own children grow up during their tender years. Kin Hong took time to take care of Zachary while his mother was away at work. He lovingly nurtured Zachary and there is no doubt that Zachary could not be where he is today without the care, support, and love of his grandfather, Kin Hong. When his granddaughter, Haydn, and grandson, Wang Lok, were born, his heart was filled with joy. He enjoyed spending time with them. Kin Hong loved all his children and grandchildren, and he would do anything for them. Although he did not have much savings, he would buy things for them because it brought him joy to see them happily enjoy their gifts.
Kin Hong's granddaughter, Haydn, wants to thank grandpa for the Chinese New Year Hongbao. She wishes grandpa happiness wherever he is and thanks him for everything he did for all of her 11 years. Kin Hong's grandson, Wang Lok, wants to thank grandpa for the time they spent together on the Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day of this year. The day before he went to a better place, Kin Hong told his son, Kai Cheong, that he could not fight this anymore. He just could not bear the pain he was experiencing and the pain that it has brought upon his loved ones. In the end, we are all very happy that Kin Hong has peacefully gone to a better place.
Kin Hong is survived by his children, daughter, Ngar Yee; son, Kai Ming, and son, Kai Cheong; and former wife, Yu Siu.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with a funeral service to begin at 11. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.
Cremation will immediately follow at Stauffer Crematory, Inc.
