Zachary Mikal Merriman, 25, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life in his home on the morning of December 31, 2014.
Born on June 2, 1989 in Boulder, Colorado, he was the son of Kim P. (Rembold) Mozick and fiancé Gerald A. McLane of Boonsboro, and Stephen A. Merriman and wife Mary of South Bend, Indiana.
Zachary was a 2007 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
Growing up, Zachary loved skate-boarding and enjoyed several years playing baseball for South Mountain Little League and the South County League. He participated in the Cub Scouts pack 20 of Boonsboro.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and pets. He loved the ocean and lived an active lifestyle which included weight-lifting, hiking, and spending time outdoors. He took pleasure in landscaping, gardening, and grounds keeping and was most recently employed by Garrison Lake Golf Course in Dover, Delaware.
Zachary was a caring and sincere soul who was loved by many and loved in return. His heart was genuine. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his girlfriend Amanda Vitale and beloved step-son Teagen; his paternal grandmother Mary Lou Krider and husband James of South Bend, Indiana; brother Seth D. Merriman and fiancé Alicia Benson of Boonsboro; sister Abigail E. Mozick of Boonsboro; brother Samuel J. Merriman and sister Emily C. Merriman both of South Bend; Niece Sophia E. Mozick (daughter of Abigail); step-brothers Aidan and Ian McLane of Boonsboro; step-father Daniel J. Mozick of Boonsboro; step-mother Patricia Merriman of Oak Park, Illinois; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family extends appreciation to the Kuhn Family of Dover, Delaware, for their love and support.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather John (Jack) P. Merriman; and maternal grandparents Richard M. And Marcheta J. Rembold.
A memorial gathering and viewing will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. All other services will by held privately.
