Mrs. Yvonne Yetta (Fox) Gilbert, 87, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at NMS Health Care.
Born June 27, 1925 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late JohnYoung and Gladys Rice.
Mrs. Gilbert was active in the Salvation Army Women's League of Frederick, where she enjoyed volunteering her time. She enjoyed gardening, and dancing and listening to country music. She was a longtime Frederick resident until moving to Hagerstown in 2004 to be near her daughter. She was known to many as "Mrs. Fox."
She is survived by her Brenda Y. Eaton and husband, Morris "Frank", Sr.; her son, Lawrence Wayne Carter; four grandchildren, Morris F. Eaton, Jr., and wife, Missy; Catherine Y. Smith, and her husband, Bobby; James N. Fox; and Crystal D. Fox; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Marie Pearcey, Alicia Jean Coblentz, Matthew Alexander Eaton, Katelyn Sherri Eaton, Cody Fox, and Aalyah Danielle Dawees, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Hurst.
She was predeceased by her son, James F. Fox, and her sister, Dorothy Tressler.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 4 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Major Raymond Pruitt of the Salvation Army.
Interment will follow at Glade Cemetery.
