Yarnell Wastler

Yarnell P. Wastler, 83, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 after a brief illness.
Born on November 23, 1935, in Lewistown, MD, he was the son of late Lafeyette P. and Bertha I. Wastler.
Yarnell was the owner and operator of Yarnell P. Wastler & Sons, Inc. for 52 years specializing in excavating, paving and utilities.
He graduated from Frederick High School in 1954. He was a lifetime Member of the Frederick Elks Lodge #684, the Central Maryland Antique Club, the American Antique Truck Association, Lewistown United Methodist Church and numerous professional associations over the years.
Yarnell had a special interest for heavy equipment, Mack Trucks, Caterpillars, John Deere and International bulldozers and tractors. His hobby until shortly before his death was completely tearing down bulldozers, tractors and trucks, completely rebuilding to their original origin.
He loved attending and showing his Mack Truck’s, attending antique tractor pulls, watching his grandson pulling his modified Whistle Red, attending equipment auctions, listening to WFRE, Elvis Presley and 60’s – 70’s country music.
He is survived by former wife, Patsy A. Merryman – Wastler, his four children, Shari M. Wastler, Sandra D. Wastler-Eberly and husband Tom, Brian K.Wastler and wife Jan and Brad K. Wastler and wife Faye, seven grandchildren, Nicholas Cook and wife Deb, Greg High, Kara Kirschner and husband Dan, Wesley Joy, Patrick Wastler and wife Heather, Bradley Wastler and wife Cathleen and Whitney Wastler and friend Marty. He will also be remembered by his four great grandchildren Kyle, Randy, Alan and Pansy May along with his special friend, Luke Warfield.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Frank, and sister Ruth.
Yarnell will be greatly missed by his special caregiver Nikki, the Heartfield Assisted Living staff and his friend John. Yarnell could be seen riding his red Kozy tike up and down the sidewalk on Rt 26 and visiting the ladies at Giant grocery store.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, May 24th at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Zalatoris officiating.
Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.
A Celebration of Life reception following services will be held at 10004 Hansonville Road, Frederick, MD.
