Woodrow "Woody" Painter

March 4, 1933 — February 18, 2012

Woodrow "Woody" W. Painter,  78 of Boonsboro, Maryland, and formerly of Poolesville, Maryland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born on March 4, 1933 in Poolesville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Addison L. and Mabel L. (Hunter) Painter.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Woody was a U.S. Airforce veteran, having served during the Korean War.

He worked as a brick mason in the Montgomery County, Maryland area for more than thirty years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara L. (Carter) Painter of Boonsboro; his six children, Wanda McIntyre and her husband, Alexander of Boonsboro, Lois Painter of Hagerstown, Ralph Painter of Gapland, Maryland, Kathy Fitzwater and her husband David of Frederick, Maryland, Barbara Jones and her husband, Gary of Hagerstown and Donna Shepley and her husband, Richard of Smithsburg, Maryland; one brother, Robert Painter, Sr. and his wife, Vivian of Needmore, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dog companion, Biskit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten sisters and one brother.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  The Rev. Dr. Larry Aikens and Brother Cliff Mowen will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Beaver Creek, Maryland.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
