Mr. Woodrow Edward "Skip" Marth, 66, of Monrovia, passed away on June 16, 2012 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Kathleen Marth, to whom he was married for more than 40 years.
Born on July 29, 1945, in Olney, MD, he was the son of the late Roy Edward and Anita Lee Clark Marth. Skip was a career firefighter with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service from 1969 to 1995, where he retired as a Master Firefighter after 26 years of dedicated service. He also served as an Administrative Volunteer for the Urbana Fire Dept. where he enjoyed helping with the carnival and oyster dinners. In addition, Mr. Marth recently retired from Montgomery County Public Schools Department of Transportation. Skip enjoyed to camp and fish, but especially love spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pop Pop". The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Kanan Hudhud and the compassionate staff at the Cancer Care Center of Frederick and Mt. Airy for their care and support.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: Thomas Edward Marth of Monrovia and Christopher Lee Marth of Frederick; grandchildren: Sam, Peyton and Avery Marth all of Monrovia; a brother, Bill Marth and wife Nada of Silver Spring as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Mr. Marth was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lee Marth and a nephew, Patrick Lee Marth.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, June 20 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 21, with Pastor Penelope Morningstar officiating.
Interment will be private.
