W. Lee "Mike" Gosnell

May 5, 1914 — February 6, 2012

W. Lee "Mike" Gosnell, 97, of Ravenwood Lutheran Village and formerly of Trego, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.

Born May 5, 1914 in Brunswick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Anna Mae (Anderson) Gosnell.  His wife of 71 years, Huldah Catherine (Easton) Gosnell, preceded him in death on October 31, 2008.

Lee was employed as an Engineer with the B & O Railroad in Brunswick, retiring in 1974 after having worked for 38 years.

He had formerly attended the Central United Brethren Church in Rohrersville, Maryland, where he previously served as a Trustee.  He was also a member of the Antietam Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M. in Keedysville, Maryland, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, the B & O Veterans Association, and AARP.

He is survived by one daughter, S. Ann Metcalf and her husband, Ret. Col. Frank (Bud) of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and one grandson, Michael L. Metcalf and his wife Alicia of Aurora, Colorado.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Charlotte Harrison and his brother Carlos A. Gosnell.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  Rev. Victor H. Moon will officiate.  The Antietam Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service just prior to the start of the funeral and final resting place ceremonies will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Rohrersville.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
