William Richard [Dick] Liston, Jr.

Mr. William Richard Liston, Jr. of Mt Airy, MD, died on March 25, 2010 peacefully at home. Born September, 11, 1927 in Texas City, Texas, Dick grew up in a family owned Lock and Key business. He graduated from Southwestern College, Keene, Texas and married Barbara MacDonald. Dick was a locksmith for Montgomery County Board of Education, a member of Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church and president of Chesapeake Lay Advisory Council for many years. After retirement, Dick was active in Frederick Toastmasters serving as local president and Governor of Area 41.

He is survived by Barbara Liston, his bride of 58 years; son, Ted Liston of Tujunga, California; daughter, Jane Liston Kurtz of S. Lancaster, Mass.; 5 grandchildren, Kevin, David and Kimberly Liston, Joel and Christy Joy Kurtz; sister, Betty Hedrick of California and brother, Jim Liston, Texarkana, Texas.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Friday, April 2, at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, 915 E. Watersville Rd., Poplar Springs, Md.

Services: Services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Neville Harcombe. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
