William Noah Roelkey Sr, 80 of Knoxville, MD passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the wife of Veleria T. Roelkey. They were married almost 50 years.
Born July 23, 1926 in Knoxville, MD he was the son of the late David Henry Roelkey III and Helen Hightman Roelkey.
He was a brakeman and a conductor on the B&O Railroad for 46 years until his retirement.
Mr. Roelkey was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a farmer and also a member of the Long Pond Rod Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Veleria, he is survived by three children, William N. Roelkey, Jr of Rosemont, MD, Karen Bartlett-Smith and husband Cole of Walkersville, MD and Mark Alan Roelkey, Sr. and wife Mary of Rosemont, MD, five grandchildren, Mark Roelkey Jr., Brittney Bartlett, Matthew Roelkey, Max Roelkey and William Roelkey III, one sister, Mary Simpson of Lovetsville, VA, two brothers, Robert Roelkey of Boonesboro, MD and Albert Roelkey of Brownsville, MD, He will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his five sisters, Ellen Roelkey, Martha Roelkey, Nina Filler, Helen Ryan and Lillian Harwood, four brothers, David Roelkey III, John Roelkey, Oliver Roelkey and Warren Roelkey.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD on Thursday, February 1, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Services:
Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Wendell McClellan officiating.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
