William Lewis Kantoski

September 1, 1947 — May 18, 2008

Mr. William Lewis Kantoski, 60, of Monrovia died on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Alicia Olene Finley.

Born on September 1, 1947 in Osceola Mills, PA; he was the son of Rita Lewis Kantoski and the late John Kantoski of Hollidaysburg, PA.

Bill was an engineer with Jackson and Tull, working out of Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt on the Hubble Space Telescope Project.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was the former president of the Central Maryland Diving League.

Bill was also an active member of the Maryland Officials Club and the Frederick County Swim and Diving Officials Association. He loved his work and had worked on Hubble for more than 25 years.

He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, an avid reader, enjoyed fixing things around the house, loved dogs and was active with the Boy Scouts, and he himself was an Eagle Scout.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Jason Kantoski of Frederick and Nicholas Kantoski of New Market; three step-children: Alyse Ecalono and future son-in-law Shawn Perry of Frederick, C.J. Ecalono of Coraopolis, PA, and Allie Ecalono of Frederick. Brother James Kantoski and wife Kathy of Altoona, PA, sister Adele McKelvey and husband Tom of Hollidaysburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Janice Kantoski of Altoona; 3 nieces and 8 nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Kantoski.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM on Thursday, May 22, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.

Services: A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Rt. 80 at Prices Distillery Rd., Ijamsville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
