William Bret Byrd

William Bret Byrd, 77, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD.
Born on May 19, 1941 in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Billie Burke Byrd and Frances Virginia (Winfrey) Byrd White, and stepson of James Herbert White.
Bret graduated from Princeton High School and the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. He began his career as a retail pharmacist in Silver Spring, MD for Drug Fair and transferred to the Frederick store. He worked for several pharmacies in Frederick and Hagerstown. He and his wife, Sharon, established and operated Byrd Vineyards and Winery in Myersville, MD until 1995. Bret retired from CVS in 2010. He and Sharon moved to Atlanta, GA where they enjoyed playing golf and tennis. They returned to Frederick in 2016.
Bret is survived by his wife, Sharon R. Byrd, of 47 years; one daughter, Bresha Mogar and husband, Scott, of Frederick; one son, Briton Byrd and wife, Meagan, of Braddock Heights; six grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Paige Mogar, and Sydney and Brooklyn Byrd.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Bret’s life journey will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Rev. Dana Werts will officiate. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick Co.
