William (Bill) Americus Mann, 86, of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Born on September 7, 1931, in Lovettsville, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Parvin and Helen Graham Mann.
Bill was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Lovettsville High School, served two years overseas in the U.S. Army, and worked more than 28 years as a Federal Protective Officer for the U.S. Government serving the Department of Energy, State Department, FBI, and the CIA. After retiring from the federal government, Bill worked part-time at Harrison’s Towing of Brunswick and Ridgeway’s Used Cars in Lovettsville. He was a fan of NASCAR as well as local stock car racing with his favorite cars sponsored by Nininger’s Tire and Auto Center of Brunswick. Bill was a member of the Track Shun Pacers, Brunswick Moose Lodge, and the Brunswick American Legion.
Bill is survived by wife Margaret Burrier Mann; four children, Sharon Sandin and husband Bill of Kansas City, KS; Keith Mann and wife Bethany of Brunswick, Karen Wigfield and husband Jim of Knoxville, and Kent Mann and wife Jamie of Frederick; eight grandsons, Jim and Joe Mann, and Tyler, Willie, Grant, Shay, Trent, and Reed Wigfield; one great granddaughter London Mann; two sisters, Barbara Frye and Janet Roudabousch Biser and husband John, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Blanche Crim with whom he had a special relationship.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23 from the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 10 - 11. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Lovettsville.
