William "Bill" Downin

William “Bill” Bruce Downin, 82, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Ravenwood Nursing Home.  He was the beloved husband of Harriet V. Downin for 57 years.

Born on April 15, 1937, in Williamsport, Maryland, he was the son of the late David Bruce and Thelma (Hankey) Downin.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sister Trixie L Downin and sister Josephine Downin Landry of Deltona FL.

Bill was a lifelong horseman.  He held various positions at Charles Town Races as a Trainer, Outrider, and Starter.  He also participated and enjoyed Horse Shows, Team Penning and in his younger days enjoyed many Rodeos.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters Tammy Downin of Hagerstown MD, Barbara Miller and husband Terry of Hagerstown MD,  sisters Katherine Downin Burtner of Hagerstown MD, and L Marie Downin of Doral FL,  and brothers John D Downin of Colorado Springs CO, A Jack Downin (Pat) of Williamsport MD and Thomas J Downin (Kathy) of Williamsport MD as well as nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bill's life journey will take place at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro  on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a time for sharing at 3pm and 7pm.

Interment will be at St Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring MD at a later date.
