William "Yogi" Swaney

William "Yogi" Swaney, 87, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Autumn Lake Healthcare, Braddock Heights. He was the husband of the late Marlene Swaney. Born on December 14, 1937, in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of William Patterson Swaney and Jean (Koderic) Swaney.

Mr. Swaney was the oldest of 9 children, and was a 1959 Graduate of North Union High School, Uniontown, PA. He was a Golden Glove Boxer, and attended the University of Maryland, playing on the football team. He was the owner of Veterans Photocopy Company. In his retirement, Mr. Swaney was an usher for the Frederick Keys, and received multiple Governor's citations for contributions to community and youth sports. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, attending High School and Youth Sports as well as spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons:William Samuel Swaney (Amy) and Adam Veltri Swaney (Danielle), as well as his 4 grandchildren: Billy, Allegra, Giovanni, and Isabella. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred "Midge" Denny.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
