Mr. William H. "Bill" Wynn , 77, of Taylorsville, died Tuesday, May 25th, following a stroke. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lee Wynn, former husband of June Wynn (deceased), father to Harry and Reese Wynn, and grandfather to Junie Wynn and Samantha Wildt.
Bill was born on the Fourth of July, 1932, in Phoenix, AZ to parents Betty and Harry. Bill grew up as any young cowboy would, his prize possessions being his horses Speed and Betty Blue. He was graduated from Central High School in 1950, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Inducted at MCRD San Diego, Bill served his country in Company "C", 7th Engineering Battalion, Fleet Marine Force Pacific, Camp Pendleton, CA. Following his tour in the Marines, he settled in Washington, DC to begin working for the FBI.
There he met and married June McClanahan, who had moved to Washington after high school. Son Harry was born in 1960, Reese in 1965. In between the family moved to Laurel, Maryland, where they lived until 2001. Bill worked until retirement in the defense and space industry as a draftsman and mechanical designer, mostly on US Navy projects. June died in 1990 after a long battle with cancer, and Bill met and married wife Mary Lee in 1992. They lived many happy years together in Taylorsville, enjoying traveling, history, and keeping up with current events. Bill was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps League.
Family will receive guests from 7-9 pm Friday, May 28th, at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy at #8 East Ridgeville Blvd. The funeral service will begin at Stauffers at 11 am on Saturday, May 29, followed by interment at the Maryland National Cemetery, 13300 Baltimore Ave (US-1), in Laurel, MD. 20707.
