William Ward

William H. “Mr. Bill” Ward, 77, of Frederick , formerly of Bethesda , died on Thursday October 7, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital . He was the loving husband for 56 years of B. Dianne Ward.

Born on January 30, 1933 in Washington D. C. He was the son of the late William H. and Gladys Nichols Ward.

He was a graduate of Bethesda Chevy Chase High School . He served in the Army National Guard from 1952 until 1955. He was in the 29 th Division, 115 th Infantry Regiment 29 th Division. He was a volunteer for the Frederick County Sheriff office from May of 2002 to the present. He was also employed at the Frederick County Sheriff’s office from May 2007 until 2010. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 2 for over 30 years. He was a member of the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, and he was life long member at Urbana Fire and Rescue and Wesley Chapel U. M. C. in Urbana .

He was known for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered as always helping those in need.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children; Sandra Lee Miller of Myrtle Beach, SC., Terry Lynn Grimes of Frederick and David William Ward and wife Jennifer of Hagerstown. Four grandchildren Christopher Grimes, Matthew Grimes, Kristen Jean and Brandon Ward. One great grandchild Courtney Ward.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9m on Monday October 11, 2010 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday October 12, in the Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Sandi Phillips and Reverend Paul Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery , Frederick .

In Lieu of flowers the family asked that contributions be made to; Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 3519 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704, The Two Top Fellowship, 13743 Ft. Loudon Road, Mercersburg, PA 17236 or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
