William Miller (Bill)

February 6, 1922 — December 27, 2018

Mr. William Charles Miller (Bill), 96, of Frederick died on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. He was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Helen Miller, in 1998. He was the husband of Angeline Miller (Angie) of Frederick, whom he married in 2001.

Born February 6, 1922 in Scotia, NY, he was the son of the late John Wolfe Miller and Florence (DaBell) Miller and brother to David Alfred Miller.

Bill was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.  In 1955 he moved his family to Washington, DC where he had a long career as a cartographer with the Army Map Service until he retired in 1977.

He loved car racing and was an avid traveler.  In his long life, he travelled to 48 of our 50 states as well as over 30 countries around the world.

Bill was a resident of Homewood for the past year, where he enjoyed the outings and the special music programs. He was good natured and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Angie, he is survived by his daughter, Sandra Holt and husband, Marshall, of Lovettsville, VA; two grandchildren, William Holt, and wife, Stephanie, of South Riding, VA, and Susan Dunn and fiancé Brian Putman, of Berryville, VA; six great-grandchildren, Alexis, William, Cameron, Tyler, Andrew, and Nickolas, and Angie's nine children, David, Maria, Paul, Giana, Angela Jo, Daniel, Diana, Lisa, and Gloria, and their families.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will begin at 2 p.m.

Inurnment will be private.
