On March 16, 2016, at 3:10 am, William H. Lord, 81, of Frederick MD, passed away peacefully, at his home, after suffering a stroke. Many would feel that this was due to a broken heart, after having lost his beloved wife, Katrinka, just 6 weeks prior.
The passing of Bill should be remembered as another step in the love story of a man 48, Bill, and a woman of 28, Katrinka, that met in Dallas, TX, married and created a wonderful life. Those who knew Bill and Katrinka were aware of the strong love that held this couple together, and for this reason it is no surprise that Bill could not live without her by his side.
Earlier in life, Bill was a successful sales person trapped in the corporate world. Starting in the 1950’s at IBM and later with multiple fortune 500 companies. While successful, winning hundreds of clients for IBM, creating solutions for new companies in the office equipment arena, and working in the government space, Bill was not satisfied; he was just playing the corporate game. So, after many years as a successful sales executive, Bill was able to leave the corporate world and become an entrepreneur. First with his wife, Katrinka, starting Prints that Work, a 3D fabric wall hanging that now hangs in houses from New York to South Miami Beach. Unfortunately, Katrinka’s MS got so bad they had to give up the business. And thus the new venture, Kay Moore Associates, a telecommunications recruiting company, was started with his son Brian. Being an entrepreneur was the type of challenge Bill needed in life to feel real success.
Although success in the corporate world and with his many business ventures was important, nothing was more important to Bill than his wife and family. Every minute he was not working he was spending time with, and taking care of his wife Katrinka. Bill and Katrinka always looked forward to visits from their children and grandchildren and truly cherished the tradition of Christmas Eve at their house, when the entire family would come to celebrate.
A note from Bill: “I wish you and all the grandchildren success in life, you have all made me very happy, Love Dad”.
Bill is survived by his son, Eric Lord (Karen); daughters Mekeisha Mayhle; Heather Eader (Mike); daughter-in-law Maria Lord; 11 grandchildren: Ciera & Sabrina Lord; Abigail, Liam, & Devin Mayhle; Taylor, Caitlin, & Zachary Eader; Emma, Victoria & Nicholas Lord; mother-in-law, Pauline Moore; sisters-in-law, Teresa Elliott, and Milly Burleson (Doug); niece, Jennifer Towers (Esther); and step mother-in-law, Blanca Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katrinka Lord; parents, Frederick A. Lord & Marguerite G. Lord; son, Brian H. Lord; and father-in-law, Milton C. Moore
He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. We know we will all meet again in Heaven and know he will watch over us.
Bill’s final resting place will be Captiva Island, Florida, both Bill and Katrinka’s favorite vacation spot.
