William Kushner

Bill Kushner, age 87, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.  He was born on May 6, 1933, in Glassport, Pennsylvania and grew up in Port Vue, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Evans) Kushner and his brothers Robert and Rodney.

Bill attended Duquesne University and began working in the nuclear industry in 1951 at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.  In 1958, he transitioned to the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission where he worked until 1973 when he moved to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region I in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.  Bill retired as a Safeguards Scientist in 1988 and after retiring had a consulting business in safeguards security for corporations and medical facilities that had nuclear materials on site.  Throughout his career, he reviewed, developed, and endorsed inspection programs, audit policies, standards, and procedures to ensure facilities had effective safeguards in place.  His career took him to many places in the United States.

His love of golf and nice, warm weather led him to relocate to North Carolina after his retirement.  Bill loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cadillacs, bowling, golfing, westerns, Tanqueray martinis, good restaurants, crepe myrtles, and travel.

Bill (BK ♡) is survived by his loving and devoted daughters Cheryl (Larry), and Lynne, and granddaughter Dani.
