William Hubble

September 19, 1934 — March 21, 2016

Mr. William Beattie Hubble, 81, of Libertytown, MD died peacefully on March 21, 2016, in Frederick. He was the husband of Doris E. Hubble, his wife of 59 years.

Born September 19, 1934 in Nebo, VA he was the son of the late Marvin L Hubble and Edna M Webb Hubble.

As a young boy, Bill moved with his family from Virginia to the Allie Messer farm in Montgomery County MD., where Bill would develop his strong work ethic and love for farming. In 1945, the family settled in Kemptown, MD. He attended Frederick High School until 1950, when he went to work for the Pontiac dealership in Mt. Airy, beginning his lifelong career as an auto mechanic. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, Bill proudly served his country, attending Mechanical Training School while repairing trucks and tanks while stationed mainly at Fort Hood, Texas. Upon his discharge from the service, Bill became an Esso service station dealer in Mt. Airy. For 40 years, Bill would own and operate Four County Exxon Auto Repair until his retirement in 2000. His passion for excellent customer service and honesty would earn him numerous industry and community awards over the years. Bill took special pride in the young men and women who would work for him throughout this time.

In later years, he pursued his love for farming by raising beef cattle for a time. He was also very involved with his grandchildren in 4H and horsemanship.

Always devoted to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bill enjoyed family vacations to Walt Disney World and the beach. Bill attended Linganore United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: Gary W Hubble and wife, Susan of Mt. Airy, Barry L Hubble and wife, Ladeana of Libertytown and Dana L Hubble of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Marvin W Hubble of Monrovia and his sister, E. Nadine Hubble of Pensacola, FL. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Carl R Hubble and a grandson, Jacob W. Hubble.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 24, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 25, with his Pastor, Rev. David Coakley officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: Linganore United Methodist Church, 8921 Clemsonville Rd. Union Bridge, MD. 21791 or the Community Foundation of Frederick County to benefit the Jacob W Hubble Scholarship Fund, 312 E. Church St. Frederick, MD. 21701. Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home and Stauffer Crematory, Inc, Frederick
