William L. "Bill" Haupt

William L. "Bill" Haupt, 83, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Bill was the beloved husband of the late Joan Pancoe Haupt. 

Born on January 13, 1941 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late William and Elsa Marie Olsen Haupt. 

With a rich career spanning over 53 years, Bill was first employed by Elevator Constructors for 25 years. Following that chapter, he served the Veterans Administration for an impressive 28 years until his retirement in 2014. His commitment to his work was evident, and he was a proud member of the National Union Elevator Constructor Local 10.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill found joy in nurturing his garden. He had a particular passion for working outdoors, planting beautiful flowers that brought vibrancy and life to his surroundings. These hobbies reflected his nurturing spirit and his love of nature.

Bill is survived by his brother, Gary Haupt, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished him deeply. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Haupt.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Bill’s life at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home-Boonsboro, located at 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. Visitation will take place on January 8, 2025, from 6-8 PM, with the funeral service commencing at 7:00 PM. A second visitation will be held on January 9, 2025, from 1-3 PM.

Bill Haupt will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his work, his love for his family, and his passion for cultivating beauty in both his garden and the lives of those around him. 

A joint service for Bill and Joan will take place at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 141 West High St., Nesquehoning, PA and the burial arrangements will be handled by Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home in Nesquehoning, PA.
