William Graves

March 8, 1945 — September 23, 2014

Mr. William K. "Sonny" Graves, 69, of Frederick died
Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital
following complications from Leukemia.

For 40 years he was the loving husband of Linda Steel Graves
until her death in November of 2007.

Born March 8,1945 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of Clinton
William Graves and Bessie Graves Riling. A painter for most of his life,
he owned and operated L & S Decorators for 29 years providing
commercial painting in Montgomery and Frederick Counties,
later house painting in Frederick County. Sonny loved his job and
truly appreciated all of his customers.
Sonny and Linda bred and raised Champion Shelties and
participated in Sheltie Rescue. He was an avid animal lover
and was known for spoiling others pets.
He always enjoyed spending time with and cooking for family
and friends. Sonny will be remembered for his
thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity. He is survived by his son, David W. Graves; granddaughter, Kaylan Graves; step-daughter, Sharon Johnson; brother Robert
L. Graves; sisters, Stella Durham, Donna Justice, Linda
Riling and Patsy Weakley; 4 nephews and 3 nieces, including
special niece Beverly Durham, special brother-in-law, Jack
Durham; and many special friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Sonny was predeceased
by his step-father, Donald Riling; niece, Jennifer Graves;
and close friend, Gilbert Burris, his mother's companion.

A celebration of Sonny's life will be held privately by the
family at a later date. The family asks that if desired, please make a contribution
to The Animal Welfare League of Frederick County or just
think of Sonny when you "pay it forward".
