William Getz

Mr. William F. Getz,83 , of Emmitsburg, MD passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Fort Lauderdale Health & Rehab. He was the husband of the late Mary Agnes Getz for 63 years.
Born May 19, 1934 in Emmitsburg, MD he was the son of the late Leroy Hartman and Anna Blanche (Koontz) Getz.
William was a lifetime member of the Graceham Fire Co., Legion, AMVETS, the Moose Lodge and the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club all of Thurmont. In his younger years he was a coach for the Thurmont Little League. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children William Getz, of ME, Susan Dewees and husband Mearl of Woodsboro, Anna Maria Sahlin and husband Peder of FL, David Michael Getz and wife Paula of Thurmont, Brian Getz and wife Traci of Emmitsburg and Timothy Getz of PA; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3 at 11AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15 N. Church St., Thurmont. Pastor Matthew Beers will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
