William Eugene Eckenrode "Bill", 59, of Thurmont, passed from this life on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Frederick Health Hospital. He was the husband of Tracey Eckenrode. Born on February 7, 1964, in Baltimore, he was the son of Gene Eckenrode and Margaret Boone.
Bill was a lead engineer in the commercial engineering field for many years and was a proud member of Local #99 Union. He started his career in the carpentry and construction fields before entering the Local #99 apprenticeship program, where he graduated in 1994 at the top of his class as Valedictorian.
Bill was a jack-of-all trades, helping his family and friends with anything that needed to be done, mechanical, electrical, construction or anything. He was a classic car enthusiast and often went to car shows and enjoyed his OC Cruisin' Weekends. Bill loved old music and often joked about being born in the 'wrong era'.
Above all else, family was the most important thing to him - family traditions, family gatherings, family vacations, family camping and noisy family dinners. Bill said that he "considered himself the richest man on earth, due to his family".
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Tracey; his children: Jenny Coblentz (David), Sarah Stine (Keith) and Bryan Eckenrode (Emily); his grandchildren: Christopher, Cora, Chloe, Kyle, Makayla, Mason, Chase, Aubree and Hayden; a great grandson, Liam, as well as his special family, Tammy and Kenny Keeney and their children, Kendra (Justin), Jake and Kynlee. He also leaves behind his siblings: Kathy Boone (Dennis), Milton Boone (Lorri), Steven Boone (Karen), Michael Boone and Jesse Eckenrode (Sherry) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
As Bill was a long time donor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, memorial contributions are strongly suggested to St. Jude's at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Mt. Tabor Park, 13544 Motters Station Rd., Rocky Ridge, MD 21778.
