William Rene Castillo Acosta, 24, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, September 15, 2023. Born on April 12, 1999, in Bethesda, Maryland, he was the son of Rene Quisbert Castillo of Gaithersburg and Reina Margarita Acosta of Honduras, who survive him.
After graduating from Quince Orchard High School, William attended Montgomery College and the University of Maryland where he was studying for a degree in criminology. His dream was to serve his community with a career in law enforcement.
William was a gentle soul, always kind and thoughtful. He wanted to make everyone laugh. Whether playing soccer or a competitive game of racquetball with friends, he always made sure they laughed before they said goodbye.
When taking a break from his studies, William worked closely with his father, learning the contracting business and becoming an invaluable partner. He never thought a job too big or small to help. To his father, William was an amazing son and friend. The two of them were inseparable and could finish each other’s sentences. William was everything to his father.
Although William had many dreams, ambitions and plans for the future, we now know that beneath the smiles and joking, he was also struggling with depression. Tragically, the depression overwhelmed him and William died suddenly at the age of 24 years old on September 15, 2023.
A memorial service in William’s honor will be held on October 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Parish at 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. A lunch reception will follow the service at Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877, Rooms A & B.
