William Camuti

Mr. William Paul (Bill or Poppy) Camuti, 78, of Mt. Airy died Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Paula Camuti for 58 years.

Born September 14, 1938 in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late William Mario Camuti and Elsie Geraldine (Chaser) Camuti.

Following high school, Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-67. He then had a long career as a Telecommunications Specialist with the federal government, where he was given the opportunity to travel worldwide with the Foreign Service. Additionally, he was the owner of several security companies, was a loan officer and for the last eight years, was a caretaker with Home Instead.

In his retirement, Bill was an avid reader, coin collector, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an active member of the MAVFC Auxiliary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Tina Kimmell (Jack) of Stafford, VA; Andy Camuti (Alice) of Cookeville, TN; Kendall Camuti (Lori) of Thurmont, MD; Elizabeth Camuti of Mt. Airy; and Cathy Thren (Jim) of Mt.Airy; 10 grandchildren, Kendall Camuti, Jr. (Lisa), Kris Kimmell, Ashlynne Camuti, Adrian Camuti, Jimmy Thren IV, Tyler Thren, Alex Camuti, Jordan Thren, Jacob Thren, and Alanna Carranza; five great-grandchildren, Tayler Kimmell, Matthew Kimmell, Cameron Camuti, Chase Camuti, and Cooper Camuti; and a brother, Richard Camuti and his two sons of Colorado.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Evan Anderson.
