William "Bill" Hobart Wadsworth

January 10, 1941 — April 28, 2023

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

William "Bill" Hobart Wadsworth, born on January 10, 1941, in Cortland, New York, passed away at Frederick Health Hospital on April 28, 2023, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loving family.

William, known to his family and friends as Bill, was a beloved husband and father survived by his wife Sylvia Jennings Wadsworth; daughter Carolyn W. Fahey and husband, Thomas; son Sean Wadsworth and wife Julie; granddaughter Kierston Mann and husband, Corey; granddaughter Madison Frongello; grandson Thomas Fahey; grandson Noah Wadsworth and granddaughter Katheryn Fahey. He is preceded in death by his sister Sue LeBlanc and parents Bill and Lucy Wadsworth.

Bill graduated from Groton Central High School in 1959 and later joined the United States Navy to serve his country from 1961-1967.

After being honorably discharged from service, he worked as an esteemed engineer with General Electric from 1967-1969 before going on to work with EG&G from 1969 until his retirement in 2003 as a Government Contractor with Military Submarine Programs.

In his free time, Bill had a great passion for repairing old clocks which he considered one of his favorite hobbies. His meticulous attention to detail served him well in that area of interest. However, what made Bill truly remarkable was the love he showed to everyone around him.

Bill's kindness radiated throughout his community, and those who had the good fortune of knowing him will attest that he had a heart of gold. His selflessness knew no bounds as he spent countless hours volunteering at various events and activities throughout his life to include the Outer Banks Coast Guard Auxilary.  He was also a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

The love and memories shared between Bill and those closest to him are limitless, but one thing we can all agree on is that he will be deeply missed by all who knew him personally or professionally.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 1307 North Main Street, Mount Airy, MD 21771 on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00am.

A final Celebration of his Life and interment will be held at a later date in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

The family has expressed their wish that gestures of sympathy in lieu of flowers be made by charitable donations to the Johns Hopkins University, c/o Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 550 North Broadway, Suite 724A, Baltimore, Maryland, 21205.  Please include a note indicating the donation is in memory of Bill Wadsworth and intended to benefit the JH Ataxia Center.  Memorial gifts may also be made securely online at https://secure.jhu.edu/form/neuro.
