Willard Joseph {Dinky} Barbour

Mr. Willard Joseph (Dinky) Barbour, 78, of Mt. Airy died on Friday, January 29, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Carol Marie Witte Barbour.

Born on January 13, 1932, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Charles Elliott and Alice Kathleen Boswell Barbour.

Willard married the love of his life, Carol Marie Witte in 1952, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage until her death on March 31, 2007.

In 1964, Dinky founded Rockville Ring and Bearing, which he owned and operated until 1998. However, after his retirement, he continued to contribute to the company with his time and talent until his death.

Mr. Barbour honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Gold Star Post, 191, in Mt. Airy.

Willard also leaves behind many friends and neighbors, especially those at the legion's Wednesday Night Bingo where he volunteered for many years. He loved spending time at Placid Bay, VA where he build a cabin that was belovedly named Honey Pot, spending many summers and weekends there. Dinky also enjoyed going on Carribean Cruises and trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town.

Surviving are 3 children: Carole Ann McCoy and husband Timothy of Longwood, FL, Douglas Wayne Barbour and wife Marlene, and Willard J. Billy Barbour, II all of Mt. Airy; 6 grandchildren: Sean McCoy of Longwood, Fl, Craig Barbour of Charlotte, NC, Kathleen Barbour of Mt. Airy, Brett Barbour and Ian Barbour both of Spring Ridge and John Michael Winkler; a brother Jim and sisters Josephine and Sharon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Barbour was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Carl, Leonard, and Franklin, and sisters Kathleen and Patricia .

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, February 3, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, with Rev. Ernest Thayil officiating.

Entombment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
