Wilbur T. Smith

Mr. Wilbur T. Uncle Bub Smith, 77 of Thurmont died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at College View Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Edith (Wills) Smith who died on July 25, 1997.

Born on December 5, 1930 in Johnsville, MD he was the son of the late May Elizabeth (Boone)and Murray David Smith.

Wilbur worked for BMY Tank Manufacturing for over 24 years. A member of the Fairfield, PA AMVETS, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include two daughters; Nancy Sweeney and husband Clifford of Thurmont and Linda Wantz and husband Steve, Sr. of Emmitsburg; sisters Mary Bentz and Virginia Harbaugh both of Walkersville; four grandchildren, Clifford L. PeeWee Sweeney, Tina Sweeney, Steven A. Wantz, Jr., and Christopher A. Wantz; seven great grandchildren, Brittney Hughes, Amanda Sweeney, Chad Sweeney, Justin Kerns, Stevie Wantz, III, Chloe Wantz, and Joshua Wantz; and five great great grandchildren Sadie Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Jr., Vanessa Sweeney, Lacie Hughes, and Landon Miller. He was also preceded in death by three brothers William D.,Thurston and Thurton Smith and one sister, Isabelle Brewer.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD

Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18th at 1:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD with Rev. Sally Joyner-Giffin officiating. Interment will be private.
