Mr. Wilbur Lee Wantz, 77 of Thurmont, MD., died Monday, October 8, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of the late Martha Ann Mary Peanut Carbaugh Wantz, his beloved wife of 50 years, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2007.
Born May 10, 1930 in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late John Russell and Henrietta Bauer Wantz.
Wilbur was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired plasterer and had belonged to the local Plasterers Union #891. He was a member of the American Legion Post #168, AMVETS Post #7 and the Indian Lookout Conservation Club. He was also a member of Weller United Methodist Church. Wilbur was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and caring for his dog, Rocky and his rabbits.
He is survived by two children Donna Wantz of Waynesboro, PA and Norma Jean Roth of Emmitsburg; five grandchildren, Brett Fogle, Russell Wantz, David Wantz, Leslie Wantz and Daniel Baer; three great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Welty; five brothers, Thomas, Leonard, Jerry, Donnie and Frank Wantz; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sons Wilbur Lee Wantz, JR. and Ernest Daniel Wantz, two brothers, Russell Wantz and Robert Bob Wantz and one sister Dorothy Cool.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E Main Street, Thurmont, MD Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8:00 p.m.
Services:
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 12, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Broome officiating.
Interment Creagerstown Cemetery.
