Wilbur Keefer

Mr. Wilbur R. Keefer, 78, of Frederick , died on Wednesday May 25, 2011 , at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy . He was the husband of Ruth V. Keefer.
Born on March 17, 1933 in Mt. Airy , he was the son of the late Oliver O. and Florence Gartrell Keefer.
He served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 until he retired in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion, Mt. Airy . He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and loved all animals. He was known to all as a gentle man and a friend.
Also surviving is his granddaughter, Amanda Rose Calleia of New York . One sister, Betty Younkins of Hagerstown . Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Galleia. Brothers, Ray and George Keefer and sisters, Anna Mae Poole, Olive Duvall and Freda Irons.
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Friday May 27, 2011 at the Stauffer Funeral Home P. A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick , where services will be held on Saturday May 28, at 11:00am . Reverend Lloyd Fuss will officiate. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery , Mt. Airy .
