Mr. Wendell Young, Jr., 78, of Inwood, WV passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Northampton Manor. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Jean Young.
Born on May 20, 1935 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Wendell S., Sr. and Evelyn Beacht Young.
Mr. Young was a member of the National Guard. Prior to his retirement he was a conductor for CSX Railroad. Wendell's children and grandchildren were his entire life and he loved spending time with them. Wendell also enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, model trains, coin collecting and genealogy.
He is survived by his seven children Wendell Young, III and wife Nancy of Cottage City, MD, Howard Young of Inwood, WV, Hilda Donovan and husband Tony of Boonsboro, Alice Freeman and husband Steve of Harpers Ferry, Kim Switlick and companion Larry Coren of Boonsboro, Stacy Marken and husband Randy of Inwood and Tracy Myers and husband Roger of Martinsburg; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son Wallace.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 2-3pm where a service will begin at 3pm. Pastor Edward Myers will officiate.
Interment will be private.
