Welling Barker {Buck} Souder

Welling Barker (Buck) Souder of Poolesville, Md. passed away on October 4th 2009 from ALS.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Catherine Bea, sons Michael, his wife Robin and David, grandchildren Alicia Krauss and husband Damion of New Market, Stephanie and Justin; sisters Jean Bourne and Eleanor Rimar along with numerous nieces and nephews.

One brother Oscar Jr., preceded him in death.

Mr. Souder was born July 19,1925 and grew up in NE Washington DC and later moved to University Park, Md.He graduated from McKinley Tech High School and served in the Air Force attaining the rank of Lieutenant. After leaving the Air Force, Buck graduated from Bliss Electrical School and attended the University of Maryland. He joined C&P Telephone and worked in Marketing, Engineering and Installation/Repair before retiring from AT&T Information Systems in 1984 after 37 years.

He married Mary Catherine Skonier in 1950. Buck lived his entire life in the Washington DC area including Chillum, Kensington, Derwood and Walkersville. Bea and Buck moved from Walkersville to Poolesville, Maryland in 2008.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, MD, Wednesday, October 7, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Humphrey officiating.
