Wayne Allen Alexander

Wayne Allen Alexander, 64, of Sabillasville, died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after a long and courageous battle to survive for the love of his family. He was the husband of Gayle Beall Alexander for 42 years.

Born in Washington, DC on March 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Alma Shirley Meeks and Robert Allen Alexander. A Master Electrician, he owned and operated W.A. Alexander Electric for over 29 years having started in 1977. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 26.

A lover of nature, and with the desire to always learn, Wayne was an avid hunter, trapper, survivalist, and inventor. He held membership in the National Rifle Association. He was a great judge of character who found the good in everyone he met.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Tammy Alexander and husband Michael Thorpe of Smithsburg and Stacey Alexander Godlove and husband Robert of Thurmont: his cherished grandchildren; Shane Patrick Yerka and Blake Alexander and Madeline Elizabeth Godlove; his adopted sons, John Beall and Richard Johnson; special friends, Reed McCathern, Billy Larson, Mike Carithers and the late Clay Peyton.

He was also preceded in death by his in- laws, Henry Beall and Madeline Jones and his stepfather Carl Kinner.

Wayne will be missed by all who were fortunate to have met him on the path through life.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on both Thursday, September 3rd and Friday, September 4th from 7 until 9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.

Services: A memorial service celebrating Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 PM at the Deerfield United Methodist Church, 16405 Foxville-Deerfield Road, Sabillasville, MD, 21780.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Wayne's memory to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005. Please take a walk in the woods and think of Wayne.
