Wayne Richardson

Wayne Edward Richardson, 67, of Walkersville, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family and following a 7-year battle with multiple myeloma and more recently with pancreatic cancer.  He was the husband of Jayne Cramer Richardson.  Wayne was born in Hartford, CT on November 5, 1953 and was the son of Theresa Lamore Lachmund and the late Donald Edward Richardson of Manchester, CT.  He graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, CT in 1972 and went on to graduate from Manchester Community College with a degree in hotel management in 1974.  He managed various Holiday Inn hotels for the majority of his career and finished his career as an events coordinator.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his children, Kimberly Brockey of Walkersville, Md, Christopher and wife Rebecca Richardson of Boonsboro, MD, Amanda and husband Bobby Drake of Smithsburg, MD, and Andrew and wife Jen Richardson of Greencastle, PA.  Mr. Richardson was also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary and Karlie Brockey of Walkersville, MD, Cailyn, Emery, and Alesana Richardson of Boonsboro, MD, Jocelyn and Layla Hersom and step-grandchildren Emma and Evan Drake of Smithsburg, MD, Ian Richardson and step-grandchild Jayma Wharton of Greencastle, PA.  He is also survived by his sister Donna Richardson Mercier of Manchester, CT, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, good friend Brad Manfreda, and his dog Sasha.
Wayne will be remembered by all who knew him for his great sense of humor, his antics, and shenanigans.  He was a life-long sports fan and passionately followed the New York Giants, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics.  He was most passionate about basketball and shared that with his children coaching many of their teams over the years.  Wayne also enjoyed cooking and his family always looked forward his holiday specialties of stuffed shrimp and prime rib.  Mr. Richardson was a mentor to many throughout his career and took great pleasure in hearing of the successes earned by former employees.
Services will be private, but the family will receive friends from 11AM-1PM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD.  21793.  Interment will occur at 1:30PM at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville, MD.  The family plans to host a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
