Wayne Joseph French, age 81, of 250 Otho Holland Dr., Williamsport, MD, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center near Martinsburg, WV.
Born Feb. 26, 1927 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late James R. and Carrie Ann Toms French.
Wayne had owned and operated French's Termite & Pest Control Co. for 23 years.
He was a decorated Navy veteran of World War II.
Wayne had attended Calvary Temple in Williamsport.
He was a member of American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport and a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Long Kephart French, whom he married in April of 1956; four sons, Clyde A. French and wife Cindy and Shane F. French and wife Diane, all of Hagerstown, Randy L. French of Halfway, and Ricky L. French and wife Cindy of Martinsburg; one daughter, Tessa L. McCarty of Hagerstown; two brothers, Fred French of Williamsport and Harold French of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary Ruth Conway of Rawlings, MD, and Shirley Cline of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Kristin P. Simmons, Leslie A. French, Jerald Van Hafer, Dustin S. French, Michael Fleegle, Misty Fleegle and Natasha McCarty; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, "Bud."
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald French, Leon French, Paul French, and Glenwood "Jack" French, and four sisters, Catherine Myers, Hilda Myers, Mildred French and Doris Horine.
There will be no viewing or visitation by his request.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday in Boonsboro Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate.
