Wayne Michael Edwards of Frederick, departed this world on Monday, December 31, 2012 at home. Born September 11, 1959, Wayne was the son of Mr. James H. Edwards, Jr., and the late Mary L. Jackson.
Wayne graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School iln 1977 and served with both the U. S. Army and the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. After his military career he was employed with Custom Printing and later went on to school and obtained his credentials to become a professional truck driver.
Wayne was an avid NASCAR and Drag Racing fan. He was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan.
Wayne is survived by his devoted father, James H. Edwards Jr.,; his companion of 18 years Marlene Hubley; three sisters; Ruth Ann Edwards, Marsha Edwards-Preston and Debra Edwards; one nephew, Curtis Edwards (Amy); one great nephew, Tevin Edwards all of Frederick, MD.
He also leaves to cherish his memories four aunts; Martha Holliday (Robert), Lena Jackson, Charlotte A. Edwards and Arianne L. Edwards all of Frederick, MD; children and grandchildren that he shared with his companion Marlene; a host of cousins and friends.
Wayne is also remembered by two devoted friends; Larry Dotson and Charles Diggs, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his mother; both his maternal and paternal grandparents; several uncles and cousins.
The family thanks all of the nurses and doctors who cared for Wayne. Special thanks to his "Social Worker" and "Nurse Mary."
The family will receive friends at 10 AM on Monday, January 7, 2012 at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the church. Pastor Rex R. Bowes, Sr., will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to : FMH Regional Cancer Therapy Center, 501 West Seventh Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
