Wanda Grace Bowers Rohr, age 81, of 8507 Mapleville Rd., Boonsboro, MD, and formerly of Yarrowsburg, MD, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Fahrney-Keedy Home near Boonsboro.
Born June 24, 1927 in Yarrowsburg, she was a daughter of the late John Augusta Bowers Sr. and Eleanor Elizabeth Nokes Bowers.
She was a 1945 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was a retired employee of American Optical Co. in Frederick.
She was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Robert Rohr, whom she married Jan. 1, 1948; two daughters, Donna S. Utterback of Hagerstown and Sheila K. Slifer of Boonsboro; one son, Tim Rohr of Sharpsburg; one sister, Marlene Kelly of Hagerstown; three brothers, James L. Bowers of Boonsboro, Arthur Bowers of Keedysville, and Robert Bowers of Yarrowsburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Howser, and one brother, John A. Bowers Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Thursday at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Revs. Alan Smith and Louis Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in the Brownsville Heights Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
