Walter "Chub" Biser

Mr. Walter "Chub" Biser, 85, of Thurmont died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Doris Sponseller Biser.

Born October 26, 1931 in College Park, MD, he was the son of the late Charles L. Biser and Jeannie Marker Biser.

Chub served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a Jet Air Craft Instructor. He was owner of Biser Electric, which he started in 1956. In 2001, he sold the business to his son, Gus. Chub continued to work in the family business until his recent illness prevented him from doing so.

He was a member of Amvets Post 7 in Thurmont, Post 168 American Legion in Thurmont, and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

Chub enjoyed life to the fullest, and he loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Gus Biser; six grandchildren, Megan Pryor, Rebecca Kent, James Wesley Biser, Jennifer Biser, Nathan Harbaugh, and Toni Harbaugh; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Joe Royer; two sisters, Jean Royer Koontz and Anne Siple High; and a special friend, Ruthie Knott.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, James Biser; and daughter, Judy Biser Harbaugh.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
