Walter R. Valentini

Walter R. Valentini , 92, of Mount Airy, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Montgomery County Hospice Casey House.

He was born on September 23, 1931, in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Roberto F. and Gelsomina (DiCarlo) Valentini.  He lived in Maryland for most of his life.  

He was the loving husband of Ivy Valentini, his wife of 61 years.  She passed away on February 1, 2023.

He was a graduate of Classical High School in Providence, Rhode Island and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Walter was an Assistant Manager for Safeway.  He retired in 1993 after 30 years of service.

Walter was a devoted family man.  He loved the beach and going to Ocean City, Maryland for summer family vacations.  He loved football and was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins.  He was known for his summer garden and loved to give away his vegetables to family and friends.  Walter had a kind spirit and his friendliness made him approachable to everyone he met.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

Walter is survived by daughter, Norma Maria Valentini of Germantown, Maryland, daughter-in-law, Tammy Valentini of Mount Airy, Maryland, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Andrew Vincent Valentini; brother, Robert E. Valentini and sisters, Norma V. Pinelli and Vivian Ricci

A celebration of Walter's life will take place graveside at Pine Grove Cemetery on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 2:30pm  Father Paul Sparklin will officiate.
