Mr. Walter W. "Bill" King, 73, of Jefferson, Md., passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at his farm in Crystal Spring, PA.
Born November 17, 1937 in Frederick, MD., he was the son of the late Clarence Albert, Sr. and Myrtle Marie Poole King.
Mr. King served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. It was while serving in Germany that he met his former wife Evelyn, to whom he was married 37 years. Bill owned and operated Walter W. King Plumbing & Heating Contractor Inc. for 39 years. During that time he helped establish numerous other businesses, partnerships and ventures. He was truly a self-made man. He never backed down from a challenge and enjoyed a good fight. He loved hunting and farming on his beef cattle farm "The King Ranch" in Crystal Spring, PA. He often referred to it as God's Country. Bill enjoyed a good time and celebrating with family and friends.
He is survived by his children Barbara Colunga and husband Jeff, Sylvia King, Sharon King and husband Robert Wultsch, Lisa Payne and her husband Ernest, Stephanie Murphy and husband Edward, Ryan King and wife Heather, and Erica King, Grandchildren: Nichole King and fiance' Michael Byers, Rachel King and partner Maurice Manigoe, Jeffery Colunga, Jr. and fiance' Krystal Colobro, Lindsey Colunga, Gerrit Oakes and wife Catherine, Wesley Oakes, Taylor King, Jasmine Payne, Brianna Payne, Jayden King, Jada King, Jordyn King, Cullen Murphy and Keeley Murphy, great grandchildren: Maximus Oakes, William Oakes, Guinevere Colunga, Maurice Manigoe, Jr. and Sean Manigoe, brothers: Clarence King, Jr., Floyd King and Martin King, sisters:   Margaret Hahn, Emma Rhoderick, Rosa Driggers, Helen Burdette, Elsie Johnson and Rebecca Crook; nephew Rick Hahn and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Arthur King and Roland King, sister Mary Hahn and grandson Jalen King.
He will be remembered by the devotion of Bruce Boyd, Ricky Dickenson, and many other employees and associates to numerous to mention.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, November 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Friday, November 18 at 11 o"clock with Pastor David Howell officiating.
Interment will be at the conveniences of the family.
