Virginia Mary "Vergie" Keesecker, 63, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, died on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.
Born on April 6, 1947, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Harry William and Margaret (Preves) Keesecker.
Vergie attended the Boonsboro Family Worship Center and was known for her love of animals.
She is survived by her sister, Margie "Susie" Griffith of Sharpsburg; her foster sisters, Sandra J. Henson and Susan R. McGlaughlin, both of of Sharpsburg, Shirley A. Cook of Boonsboro, Doris Stallings of Sharpsburg and Connie Church of Fairplay; and her foster brothers, Ronald E. Miller of Sharpsburg, Samuel G. Miller of Williamsport, Charles R. Miller of Hagerstown, and Sam and Raymond Thomas, both of Boonsboro. She will also be lovingly missed by Ralph Gossard, III, whom she raised and cared for.
In addition to her parents, Vergie was preceded in death by her brother, Harry M. "Henry" Keesecker; her foster parents, John and Mildred Miller; her foster sister Bonnie Miller; and her foster brother, John E. Miller, Jr.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate. Burial will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the funeral home.
