Virginia "Jenny" Deal

Born on November 1, 1936 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Linford and Nettie (Worthington) Bowers.

Jenny attended the Community Mennonite Church in Boonsboro.

She was an Avon Representative for 44 years and was a Herald-Mail newspaper carrier for 25 years.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Gerald A. Deal, Sr.; three sons, Gerald A. Deal, Jr. of Smithsburg, Maryland, Gregory L. Deal of Smithsburg, and Curtis W. Deal of Clear Spring, Maryland; two brothers, Glenn and Joseph Bowers, both of Hagerstown; and one sister, Ann Rowland of Williamsport. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bowers; and two sisters, Carolyn Shifler and Cheryl Deal.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Pastor Paul Clemmer will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
