Virginia "Ginny" Slifer

Virginia "Ginny" Anna Louise (Reeder) Slifer, 85, of Boonsboro, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 26, 1923 near Mt. Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Amos E. and Margie Baker Reeder.
She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, class of 1941. She also graduated from the Washington County Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1945. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII.
She was a loving caregiver all her life for family and friends.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville, Md.
Over the years, she was employed as a registered nurse at Washington County Hospital, Reeders Memorial Home and with Dr. Robert Campbell's office in Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William H. Slifer; and by her six children and their spouses, Dennis Slifer of Lexington, Va., Ann and Rev. William A. Herche, Jr. of Lothian, Md., Dorothy and Thomas Hammond of Marriottsville, Md., Debra and Kirk Karn of Falling Waters, W.Va., Laura and Tilghman Hemsley of Stevensville, Md., and William II and Susan Slifer of Falling Waters; a brother, James H. Reeder of Hagerstown; and 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
There will be no public viewing.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A. in Boonsboro. The Rev. John Schildt and the Rev. William A. Herche, Jr. will officiate.
