Virginia Evelyn Flickinger

August 1, 1949 — January 20, 2010

Our beloved Virginia Evelyn Flickinger went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 20, 2010 after a courageous fight against lung cancer. She was the wife and best friend of Larry D. Flickinger for the last 16 years.

Born August 1, 1949 she was the daughter of Grace Garland Marine of Taneytown and the late Charles Hayden Marine.

Evelyn was a member of the Catoctin Church of Christ and supported community efforts such as the Mt. Airy Downtown Revitalization, Taneytown Police Department, Multiple Sclerosis and the Harney Volunteer Fire Department. She owned and operated her own commercial cleaning business for 30 years and engaged in many entrepreneurial endeavors.

The things she loved most in life were her husband, her family, her horse farm, her morning coffee, and her trips to Costa Rica. She enjoyed riding her horse, Treasure, and taking care of her 4 cats, 2 goats and her dog named after her father, Charlie. She always put others before herself, going above and beyond to give whatever was needed. She gave her heart to her family and friends.

She will be loved and remembered by her daughters, Davanna Watson and husband Mike; Holly Shirey and husband Brian; Charity Finnerty and husband Tom; her brothers, Mark Marine and wife Becky, Kerry Marine and wife Cathy and her sister Annette Williamson and husband Denny; stepson Michael Flickinger and Dawn, stepdaughter Carrie Scheel and husband Bill;
her beloved grandchildren Autumn, Erik, Carson, Emma, Meadow, Tyler, Kyle, Alex, Dillon, and Adrianna.
