Virginia Stoddard Tolson, 96, died on October 17, 2012 in Frederick, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Donald Watson Tolson, to whom she was married for 52 years. Virginia was born July 14, 1916 in San Francisco, California. She was predeceased by her parents, Clark W. and Juliet Stoddard and one sister, Marin Stoddard Day. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Tolson-Gonzalez of Tempe, Arizona and Nancy V. Tolson of Frederick, Maryland, as well as two grandchildren ,Thalia Gonzalez of Berkeley, California and Zak Gonzalez of Oakland, California and eight nieces and nephews. She was an avid and accomplished quilter and a member of the D.A.R. and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Nazarene Church, 7899 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland at 11am on Thursday, October 25, 2012, followed by a gathering in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, contributions (to support breast cancer research) should be made her in name to Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation "Think Pink Initiative," 3450 Founders Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
